Introduction

KobeBryantwasanNBAsuperstar,afive-timeNBAchampion,an18-timeAll-Star,andsomuchmore.Buttomany,hewasmorethanjustabasketballplayer–hewasarolemodel,anicon,andaninspiration.Bryant'ssuddenandtragicdeathinJanuary2020lefttheworldinshock,aspeoplefromallovercametogethertomournthelossofoneofthegreatestathletesofalltime.Inthistribute,IwanttotakesometimetorememberandhonorKobeBryant,sharingsomeofthewaysheimpactedmylifeandthelivesofothersaroundtheworld.

KobeBryant'scareeronthecourtwasnothingshortofremarkable.HewasdraftedintotheNBAstraightoutofhighschool,attheageofjust17.HespenthisentirecareerplayingfortheLosAngelesLakersandquicklybecameoneofthemostdominantplayersintheleague.His81-pointgameagainsttheTorontoRaptorsin2006remainsoneofthegreatestindividualperformancesinNBAhistory,andhisfiveNBAchampionshipscementedhisstatusasoneoftheall-timegreats.Butitwasn'tjusthisskillandtalentthatmadehimstandout–itwashisworkethicanddetermination.KobeBryantwasknownforhisintensetrainingandpreparation,famouslywakingupat4a.m.tostarthisday.Heinspiredcountlessyoungathletestoworkhard,persevere,andnevergiveupontheirdreams.

WhileKobeBryant'slegacyonthecourtwasimpressive,itwashisimpactoffthecourtthattrulysethimapart.Hewasadevotedfatheroffourdaughtersandalovinghusband,constantlysharingphotosandstoriesofhisfamilyonsocialmedia.Hewasalsoaphilanthropist,foundingtheKobeandVanessaBryantFamilyFoundationin2006tosupportyoungpeopleinneed.ThefoundationpartneredwithorganizationsliketheMake-A-WishFoundationandtheBoys&GirlsClubtoprovideresourcesandopportunitiesforchildrenallovertheworld.Beyondthat,KobeBryantwasaculturalicon,lovednotjustforhisathleticabilitiesbutalsoforhispersonality,hisfashionsense,andhisdedicationtoexcellenceinallareasofhislife.
